Carino's Italian Raises Funds for Autism Speaks and Autism Society With All-You-Can-Eat Pasta Entrees

The Unique Italian Restaurant Chain Donates a Dollar for Every Pasta Entree Sold in April (National Autism Awareness Month)

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - March 28, 2011) - Carino's Italian today announced that it will donate a dollar for every pasta entrée purchased during National Autism Awareness Month to Autism Speaks® and Autism Society, which will divide the donation evenly. Carino's Italian's goal is to sell 50,000 pasta entrées and raise $25,000 for each organization in April. The donation will be made through Carino's Foundation, the restaurant chain's nonprofit arm that mainly supports children's charitable organizations through cause-related programs.

The fundraising effort coincides with Carino's Italian's annual Pasta Harvest celebration where guests can eat all the pasta and salad entrées they desire for as low as $8.99. Prices may vary depending on the restaurant's location. Guests can choose from as many as 30 pasta and sauce combinations including this year's Chef Select pasta and sauce -- the pappardelle and bolognese. At the same time, their purchase helps families affected by autism as well as fund research to learn more about the growing disorder. According to the latest Centers for Disease Control study, 1 in 110 children suffer from autism.

"This is the second year we are having the Carino's guest participate in our fundraiser for autism. They order 50,000 pasta entrées and Carino's will donate $50,000," said Creed Ford III, CEO of Carino's Italian. "Not only will we contribute financially, but equally important, we are creating awareness about autism."

"Carino's Italian is an example of what companies can do to make a difference in our country's fight against autism," said Pat Robbins, Texas Director for Autism Speaks. "We are deeply grateful for its commitment in raising funds and public awareness about autism so that we can further our mission to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders."

Many families affected by autism are in need of assistance across the United States especially since services for children with autism are costly and difficult to access," said Lee Grossman, CEO of Autism Society. "We are thankful for Carino's Italian and its efforts in supporting people with autism and their families and helping to improve their lives."

The fundraising effort kicks off on April 1st and runs through April 30th at participating Carino's Italian locations only. More information about the Pasta Harvest celebration can be found at: http://pastaharvest.com
