OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 10, 2013) - The CIS Final 8 Men's Basketball Championship, hosted by the Carleton Ravens, concluded today at Scotiabank Place with the consolation final, bronze medal match and the championship game, which featured the top-seeded Carleton Ravens and No. 7 Lakehead Thunderwolves. Over the course of the three-day tournament, 50,025 fans visited Scotiabank Place to witness the top basketball teams in Canada compete for the W.P. McGee Trophy.
With a 92-42 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves, the Carleton Ravens were crowned national champions and awarded the W.P. McGee Trophy. The Carleton University men's basketball team captured their third CIS title in as many years to become the first program in history to claim a ninth W.P. McGee Trophy. The Ravens finished atop the OUA East standings with a 19-1 record, added three playoff wins en route to the Wilson Cup title, and compiled an overall mark of 25-1 against CIS schools prior to Friday's quarter-final matchup against Victoria.
