Carnegie Robotics Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Certifies Quality Management System for Design and Manufacturing Robotic Systems and Components

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwired - September 21, 2016) - Carnegie Robotics LLC (CRL), the industry leader in reliable robotic systems, has achieved the ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management in the design and manufacture of robotic systems and components. The certification process included an extensive audit of CRL's product development, manufacturing process, and customer relationships to assess compliance with the International Standard Organization (ISO) criteria for quality management systems. Carnegie Robotics designs and manufacturing components for autonomous field robotics systems for government, university, and commercial customers.

Carnegie Robotics was founded in 2010 as a spinout from Carnegie Mellon's National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), the leader in research and development for advanced field robotic systems. CRL founder's sought to establish an end-to-end provider of field robotics systems -- effectively engineering, manufacturing, supplying, and supporting the critical sensors, software, and components for the advancement of the field robotics market.

Since its inception, Carnegie Robotics has transitioned robotics and advanced automation systems from the laboratory into the real world. The company fuses engineering, manufacturing, and testing expertise with a strong focus on meeting end user needs for reliability, productivity, safety, and the dozens of other essential factors necessary for a product to succeed in the real world. Carnegie Robotics offers both its own product lines and custom product development to support the defense, agriculture, mining, infrastructure and energy markets.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification for the design and manufacturing of robotic systems provides third-party validation of CRL's commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous process improvement.

"Carnegie Robotics' mission is to provide a reliable robotic system that improves productivity, safety and creates value for our customers," says Steve DiAntonio, CEO of Carnegie Robotics. "The ISO 9001:2008 acknowledges the team-driven, customer-focused environment necessary to deliver highly performance robotic solutions to demanding markets."

Carnegie Robotics is already a leader in supplying rugged, reliable robotic systems for getting work done in the real world. CRL customer Rowbot is commercializing a concept for fertilizing row crops with a fleet of small robots, the devices operating between crop rows to apply nitrogen fertilizer when the crop can most benefit. The Autonomous Mine Detection System under development by CRL for the U.S. Army will remotely detect, mark, and neutralize explosives in complex and urban terrain environments. CRL's own MultiSense 3D camera product line is utilized across a variety of industries for mapping, obstacle detection, manipulation, object identification, and safety applications. The MultiSense is being used in mines across the globe by customers such as Mine Vision Systems to produce more efficient and meaningful mine maps for the resource sector.
