Carphone Warehouse halves the cost of mobile calls and
text messages on Fresh

LONDON, ENGLAND--(CCNMatthews - Mar. 10, 2005) -

- Every day, easy, low cost mobile calls and texts
- 7.5p per minute calls. 2.5p per text
- Through Double top-ups from all Carphone Warehouse's 600 UK stores

The Carphone Warehouse today announces that it is halving the cost of
mobile calls and texts on Fresh, Carphone Warehouse's own pre paid
mobile service.

From tomorrow, Friday 11th March, Fresh is offering customers a 7.5p
rate for all UK calls to any mobile or landline at any time and 2.5p for
all texts, delivered through double top ups in store. This is half
Fresh's previous tariffs.

Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive of The Carphone Warehouse, said:

"Carphone Warehouse is making every day, low cost mobile calls a reality
for everyone. Fresh has always been price leader. Now we want to make
an even bigger difference to our customers' mobile bills. We are
halving them.

"And it's not just about great value. Fresh comes with an expert and
personal service. Customers want to talk about the phone and the tariffs
that suit them best. That's what we're there to help them with -
personally."

The Carphone Warehouse has been built on the principles of impartial
advice and the best value and service on the market. Fresh is Carphone
Warehouse's own mobile service. It uses the T-Mobile UK network and
offers price-leading pay-as-you-go calls and texts. It is provided on a
SIM only basis or coupled with the choice of a wide range of mobile
handsets.

Noting that today is also the day that easyMobile launches, Charles
Dunstone said:

"It's no coincidence that we've chosen today to launch our new Fresh
tariffs. But the fact is that the mobile phone business is not an
airline business. The price of mobile phones and the price of mobile
calling has been falling every year for the 15 years we've been in
existence. There is a big market for simple, low cost, no frills,
everyday calls. We've helped create it. We're the price and service
leader. We'll stay the price and service leader."

Fresh's new half-price calling is delivered through double top-ups.
When a customer makes a Fresh top-up in any Carphone Warehouse store,
they'll receive twice the talk time and twice the number of texts. The
double top up allocation must be used within 30 days. The new Fresh
tariffs will run from tomorrow and will be reviewed in three months'
time.

Charles said:

"The more people who use Fresh, the more we can sustain our low, low
prices and keep this great promotion going."

Fresh was created at the end of 1999 in order to provide an answer for
Carphone Warehouse customers whose mobile needs did not fit the major
operators' tariff structures. As the mobile market has developed, so
has the demand for everyday, low cost calling. Fresh answers that need,
and couples it with experts to talk to face-to-face in Carphone
Warehouse's 600 stores as well as on-line. Currently, there are some
120,000 Fresh customers.
