Cartera Commerce Holds Annual Community Day of Service

Record Number of Cartera Employees Lend a Hand to City Year Boston and Hands On Atlanta

LEXINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - Jul 12, 2011) - Cartera Commerce, the leading provider of multi-channel merchant networks and performance advertising solutions, sponsored a Day of Community Service last week with more than 100 employees -- a record number -- helping local non-profits revitalize a school and a local park. The annual Day of Service was held Friday, July 8th in the company's Boston and Atlanta locations in partnership with City Year Boston and Hands On Atlanta.

Cartera employees dressed for a different kind of workday last Friday and carpooled to Mission Hill School in Roxbury, Massachusetts and Kirkwood Urban Forest Park in Atlanta. After receiving orientation and training from City Year Boston and Hands On Atlanta, Cartera's employees spent a rewarding day working together to benefit Boston students and Atlanta residents -- a break from their normal focus on running programs for banks, loyalty programs, and merchants that deliver discounts and rewards to consumers.

At the Mission Hill School, Cartera employees assembled picnic tables and benches, painted murals and quotations, and revitalized the afterschool room, helping create a welcoming, inspirational education experience for incoming students and families. At the Kirkwood Urban Forest, Cartera employees mulched trails, removed overgrowth and invasive plants, and cleared debris, helping improve a unique urban space in an era of decreased funding for public parks.

"Cartera's Day of Service creates the opportunity for our employees to give back to the communities where they work," commented Tom Beecher, president and CEO of Cartera Commerce. "It's an incredible experience that reinforces what can be accomplished in a single day as both an individual and as part of a team. Despite a few near mishaps that you might expect by putting power tools in the hands of software and engineering folks, it was great to see that we left a Boston school and local Atlanta Park in much better shape for those in the community to enjoy."
