Cartier Acquires Two New Gold Properties

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 17, 2008) - Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ECR) ("Cartier") announces that it has acquired two new properties with strong gold bearing potential : the first property ; La Pause is located within one kilometer of Mouska Mine, and the second property; Manneville is located north of its Kinojevis property. These new acquisitions are in line with the Company's policy of acquisitions, by staking poorly tested areas with strong potential in the world-class mining district in southern Abitibi.

Manneville Property:

This property presents a structural trend highly favourable for gold bearing mineralization. It is located at the junction between two major structural systems and surrounded with numerous intrusions, which are often associated with gold mineralization.

Manneville property (see map) is along the south-east extension of the Macamic fault system which has demonstrated its gold potential over 20 km with multiple gold occurrences (35.7 g/t over 1.5 m, 27.0 g/t Au over 4.6 m). The gold bearing mineralization is associated with quartz-tourmaline-pyrite veins within the shears zones.

Several structural and lithologic similarities with our Kinojevis property lead us to believe that this area has strong potential to host economic gold mineralization.

La Pause Property:

La Pause property (see map available at the following link: is located within 1 km of Mouska Mine (0.8 Moz Au) and covers two major faults: the Parfouru and La Pause faults. It is also immediately adjacent to the Cadillac mining camp (18.8 Moz Au).

The targeted type of gold mineralization is similar to what was found in the Cadillac, Malartic and West Val-d'Or mining camps. The high potential targets include a fault zone that straddles the volcanic-sediments contact, injected with several felsic to intermediate dykes.

Cartier is presently working on a compilation of existing data on each property in order to design an exploration program to drill test the best gold targets.
