Cartier Announces Discovery of New Gold Zone

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 6, 2008) - Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ECR) ("Cartier") is pleased to announce the discovery of a new gold zone. Recent drilling has cut strongly albitized and gold bearing dykes over 70 meters of true thickness in hole KI-08-23. Grades range from hundreds of ppb up to 1.37 g/t Au. The intrusive was cut over the upper portion of the hole from 9.0 to 76.0 meters and returned a weighted average of 0.35 g/t Au over 67.0 meters. This includes a section which graded 0.56 g/t over 20.5 meters.

The discovery is situated 300 meters east and 150 meters north of the KI-07-03 discovery (press release December 11th, 2007). The gold grades are significant and continuous over an important width. The zone remains open laterally and at depth. Drilling continues in order to identify zones of enrichment and to determine the extent of the mineralized system.

Holes KI-08-22 and 23 aimed at testing the northern contact of the shear identified in 2007 from surface trenches and drill hole KI-07-03. This part of the shear is essentially unexplored and now shows the presence of mafic dykes strongly albitized and strewn with quartz-ankerite-pyrite veinlets as a wide stockwork ensemble. The intrusive was cored over 70.0 meters in the upper portion of hole KI-08-23 and in the lower portion of hole KI-08-22, 130 meters below the KI-08-23 intersection. Hole KI-08-22 cored the dyke from 176.5 to 194.0 meters and from 212.4 to 226.0 meters and returned 0.12 g/t Au over 17.5 meters and 0.30 g/t Au over 13.4 meters respectively, and confirms continuity of the mineralized intrusive at depth. These dykes are similar to those associated with the gold mineralization of the Kerr-Addison mine on the Larder-Lake Cadillac fault and the Holloway deposit along the Destor-Porcupine fault.

The drill program is currently in progress along the extensions of this newly discovered zone as well as along the extensions of the KI-07-03 discovery.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

The Kinojevis exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Geo., qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d'Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories.
