IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - Oct 22, 2012) - Striving to advance its overall performance by networking with other top-performing health care organizations, Casa Grande Regional Medical Center (CGRMC), has joined VHA Inc., the national health care network. Located midway between the cities of Phoenix and Tucson, the 187-bed not-for-profit hospital serves a diverse population and functions as base station that provides medical direction to more than 12 emergency medical service providers in western Arizona.
Facing decreasing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements as a result of the Affordable Care Act, one of Casa Grande's early initiatives will be to use the VHA LYNX™, suite of business intelligence resources to support its spend decisions and help to rapidly identify cost-saving opportunities.
"We've continued to be impressed by the benefits VHA hospitals have received from VHA's peer-to-peer networking programs, both on the national level and regionally through the VHA West Coast region," said Rona Curphy, president and CEO of Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. "We were especially excited about the region's collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to help VHA members develop a strategy to develop system-wide programs to improve the patient experience. Participating in the collaborative will help us learn IHI processes and enable us to achieve improvements faster than we would on our own."
"The vast majority of hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) want to be part of a broader network and link to additional operational improvement and benchmarking resources," said Rick Barnett, senior vice president and executive officer, VHA West Coast region. "By becoming a VHA member, Casa Grande will be better prepared to apply VHA's resources and improve both their operational and clinical performance."
