Cascades Chooses Fortinet for Comprehensive Real-Time Network Protection

Integrated Security Platform Helps Protect Canadian FP500 Enterprise's 14,000-Person Workforce Against Evolving Cyber Attacks

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 20, 2007 -- Fortinet -- the pioneer and leading provider of multi-threat security solutions -- today announced that Cascades, a Canadian FP500 company and provider of packaging products, tissue papers and fine papers, has selected a comprehensive security platform from Fortinet to provide real-time network protection to its headquarters and help safeguard communications for the company's more than 14,000 mobile employees throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Cascades' security purchase decision was prompted by the need to effectively combat the myriad of ever-evolving network threats such as viruses, worms, and other content-based attacks that were not being addressed with its aging firewall solution. The company was also looking for a security platform that was easier to manage and maintain. After evaluating solutions from a variety of security vendors, Cascades selected Fortinet's FortiGate security platform for its performance, ease of manageability, functionality and value. Cascades also purchased Fortinet FortiManager™ to centrally deploy, manage and maintain Fortinet's systems as well as FortiAnalyzer™ to easily aggregate and analyze log data.

"As our firewall solution was getting old, we were looking for a network security appliance that would provide protection against new and existing threats at the best price/performance ratio," said Denis Robitaille, IT director at Cascades. "We chose Fortinet's FortiGate integrated platform because it provides us with a highly efficient, comprehensive and cost-effective network security solution. We also expect Fortinet security systems to give us a more granular control on our traffic."

Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, antispam and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard™ Network, which provides continuous updates that help ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic and more around the clock and around the world.

"Enterprises around the world are faced with the challenge of protecting corporate data and a large, distributed workforce in the face of a continuously evolving and sophisticated threat landscape," said Karl Soderlund, Fortinet's vice president, Americas. "As Cascades and thousands of other customers have realized, Fortinet can best provide the necessary depth and breadth of security features while addressing their manageability issues. We're pleased that Cascades is realizing the benefits of our unmatched solutions portfolio and multi-threat security approach."
