Cascadia International Resources Inc.: Norton Nickel-Copper-Cobalt-PGE Zone Expanded

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 17, 2005) -

- Assays of 1.11% Ni, 1.44%Cu, 1.0 lb/tonne Co over 9.61 m (31.7 feet) in hole NL05-17

- High Ni-Cu assays of 2.32% Ni, 3.52% Cu over 1 m

- PGE values in hole NL05-16 of 3.72 and 4.32 g/tonne

- New gabbro pyroxenite body to the north discovered with disseminated Cu-Ni

Cascadia International Resources Inc. ("Cascadia") (TSX VENTURE:CJ) is pleased to announce the progress of the second 2005 phase of drilling. Drilling of two additional sections at 50 m intervals has extended the Norton massive sulphide zone another 100 m to the west at depth. Seven holes in total were drilled to complete the two sections. Assay results for the first section 1+50E are presented below in detail to illustrate the occurrence of a footwall and hanging wall zone within the pyroxenite host. Hole NL05-17 gave a weighted average of 1.11% Ni, 1.44% Cu and l.0 lbs/t Co over 9.61 m, which included a 6.55 m section averaging 1.25 % Ni, 1.85 % Cu and 1.15 lbs/t Co. The footwall zone appears to be continuous in all other drill holes to date, which consists of stringer and disseminated chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite in a sheared pyroxenite; however, a narrow pyroxenite is now observed in the hanging wall that contains values. Holes closer to surface usually had a sharp contact between hanging wall basalts and the massive sulphides. A phenomenon of Pt:Pd ratio changing was observed in NL05-16 where 3.80 g/t Pt and 0.523 g/t Pd occur, as well as 2.94 g/t Pt and 0.781 g/t Pd.

A new zone of sulphide has also appeared in hole NL05-18, roughly 100 feet (30 m) above the main sulphide zone within the basalts. Hole NL05-18 is the deepest hole in section 1+50E and a branch of the main sulphide zone may be forming in the hanging wall. Anomalous copper-nickel values occur in this zone.

Mapping and drilling has also discovered another multiphase gabbro-pyroxenite body on the north end of the grid roughly 300 m north of the Norton sulphide deposit. A geological hole to test an IP-VLF EM conductor on line 400E near 625N (-45 degrees south) cut a feldspar rich gabbro followed by pyroxenite. This occurrence opens up other potential targets along the south margin of an iron formation that extends for 10 km across the property. Disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite are seen in the pyroxenite.

Assays for section 1+00 E (holes 05-19, 20, 21 and 22) will be released once they are available.

Drilling on other geophysical targets to the northeast will be attempted before this second phase of the 2005 drilling is completed.

The drill core zones are being transported to Thunder Bay for splitting in a secure facility and then submitted to ALS Chemex Labs. Assaying for metals is being done with Aqua Regia acid digestion and ICP analysis at Chemex in Vancouver. PGE assaying is being done by fire extraction and ICP finish to obtain Pt, Pd, and Au values.

The project is being supervised by R. Middleton, P. Eng. who is the qualified person and responsible for quality control of the assaying and reporting.
