Cassidy Gold Corp.: New Discovery at Kouroussa Gold Project, Guinea

KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 5, 2006) - Cassidy Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CDY) is pleased to announce results from ongoing aircore drilling on its 100%-owned Kouroussa Project, located in Guinea, West Africa. A program of 38 aircore holes totalling 2034 metres cut across the top of a laterite plateau on the eastern margin of the extensive Manie geochemical anomaly, located 8 kilometres north of Cassidy's Sanu Filanan deposit. Highlights include 2.55 g/t Au over 24 metres in KRAB774 and 2.99 g/t Au over 24 metres in KRAB777.

777 Zone

Aircore drilling consisted of 3 fences of between 10 and 15 holes each, oriented to the east-northeast across a prominent north-trending ridge along the east side of the Manie geochemical anomaly. The two fences to the north are 120 metres apart and intersected significant widths of gold mineralization. The third fence, 240 metres further south is east of the projected zone of mineralization. All 3 lines run obliquely to the mineralized trend.

Highlights from the northern line from west to east include 0.82 g/t Au over 56 metres in KRAB773, 2.55 g/t Au over 24 metres in KRAB774, 0.76 g/t Au over 16 metres in KRAB776, and 2.99 g/t Au over 24 metres in KRAB777. Stepping south 120 metres, highlights from west to east include 2.63 g/t Au over 8 metres in KRAB785, 0.52 g/t Au over 16 metres in KRAB789, 0.46 g/t Au over 60 metres in KRAB790, and 0.64 g/t Au over 16 metres in KRAB791 (see Table 1).

Mineralization is located at the indicated contact between a trachyte unit to the west and a mafic volcanic and dolerite unit to the east. True thicknesses of the 777 mineralization is currently not known. A follow-up program of aircore drilling stepping to the northeast will attempt to locate the strike extension to the mineralization. An updated location map will be posted on www.cassidygold.com shortly.

Exploration Program

The RC drill is completing resource drilling at Sanu Folo and preparing for a significant resource drill program at Kinkine. The diamond drill has begun a short program to define structural controls to mineralization at Kinkine. The aircore rig continues at Benegban and is scheduled to follow-up on the new 777 Zone, testing to the north-northeast along the apparent strike of mineralization. From Manie, aircore drilling will move to Dalaoule. Airborne magnetics and soil geochemical anomalies, coupled with widespread artisanal mining activity make Dalaoule another priority target.

Sampling and Assay Procedures

Aircore drill samples were collected from the cyclone and split or pipe sampled to 1 kilogram size. All samples were sent to the SGS analytical laboratory in Siguiri, Guinea for fire assay using a 50-gram subsample. Samples assaying greater than 5 g/t gold are reassayed using a metallics screen technique. Repeat assays are made on every 25th sample, and duplicates and blanks are submitted, one each in every 20 samples. Quality control/quality assurance is closely monitored by RSG Global personnel.

Personnel

Project Manager Nick Hewson of RSG Global heads the exploration team in Guinea. Christopher J. Wild, P.Eng, VP Exploration for Cassidy Gold Corp, is currently in Kouroussa and is the Qualified Person for this release.
