Catalina Andrade Recognized as Workforce Game Changer

Retrofit Employee Happiness Director Among Elite Group to Be Honored

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - July 29, 2016) - Catalina Andrade, employee happiness director at Retrofit, was named a 2016 Game Changer by Workforce magazine. Andrade heads up the human resources function for Retrofit, a leading provider of weight-management and disease-prevention solutions. She was among an elite group of 25 people under the age of 40 to be honored for her work in human resources.

"I am honored to be recognized for work I love to do," Andrade said. "I am fortunate to be a part of an organization that transforms lives and prides itself on employee happiness and innovation."

Andrade joined Retrofit last fall and quickly proved that she is the right person for the job. Under her leadership, Retrofit has been recognized for its culture and HR best practices through several workplace awards.

To boost the level of delight in Retrofit's workforce, Andrade implemented Good Egg Days to allow workers to take time off to volunteer one day each quarter. She also received buy-in from the company's leadership to allow workers to take days off for birthdays, before Thanksgiving and from Christmas to New Year's. In addition, Andrade established a monthly employee review program to eliminate the traditional annual performance review as well as a 401(k) match program to help workers build up their retirement reserves.

Andrade believes Retrofit's employees are the company's most important asset. In order to create a culture of happiness, she uses weekly pulse surveys to obtain feedback in real time on how to shape the culture or implement programs that will further the mission and employee development. Andrade takes each piece of advice to heart and makes it her point to ensure employees are satisfied and living a life they love both in and out of the office.

"Catalina is an all-round good egg who embodies our values," said Mary Pigatti, CEO, Retrofit. "She is candid, always innovating and driven to deliver. We are thrilled for her to be recognized for the work she does to delight our employees at every turn."

Andrade is a recognized leader in human resources who regularly is tapped to speak at industry events and in the media. Her background includes working for some of Chicago's "Best Places to Work" as recognized by Crain's Chicago Business, Adweek and Fortune. Andrade has an MBA in HR Management from Loyola University Chicago and is both PHR and SHRM-CP certified.
