Catalina Metals Corp.: New Director and CFO Appointed

COURTENAY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 19, 2011) - Catalina Metals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CTX.H) ("Catalina" or the "Company") announces that Ian Gallie has resigned as Chief Financial Officer and director of the Company. The Board of Directors would like to thank Mr. Gallie for his many years of service to the Company.

Mr. Doug Fulcher has been appointed as a director of the Company. Doug is a seasoned industry veteran with over thirty five years of mineral exploration experience. He has worked with numerous senior and junior mining companies domestically and at an international level, both publicly and privately. Doug is currently the President, CEO of Burnstone Venture Inc. and most recently Doug was the President, CEO of Abacus Mining and Exploration from 2003 until 2010 where he was instrumental in the development of the Afton Ajax project. Doug also serves on the Boards of both Redstar Gold Corp. and Maritime Resource Corp. and previously was the President of Skygold Ventures Ltd and a director of Niblack Mining Corp which was formed as a spin out company of Abacus Mining.

Mr. Alec Peck, CA has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Alec Peck brings more than 25 years experience in the financial markets. Mr. Peck completed his chartered accountant designation with Deloitte and Touche, chartered accountants - Vancouver. He then practiced in Alberta before moving to Toronto. From 1986 until 1993, he was a partner in Toronto and then Vancouver with member offices of the international public accounting firm Horwath International. From 1993 until March, 2004, he was a vice-president in the corporate finance group of publicly listed full-service investment dealers, first with CM Oliver and then Canaccord Capital Corp., which acquired CM Oliver.
