The CBE Group Inc. Selects Riverbed's Steelhead Appliances to Accelerate Its Cisco Network

CBE Taps Riverbed Over Cisco and Juniper to Speed MS SQL Across Wide-Area Network

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2007) - Riverbed Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced that The CBE Group Inc. has selected and successfully deployed Riverbed's Steelhead® appliances across its sites in the Midwestern United States to accelerate user access to their customized MS SQL-based accounting application across multiple sites.

The CBE Group, Inc. (CBE) is a privately owned accounts receivable management company that has been in the credit information and accounts receivable management business since 1933, serving organizations throughout the United States including healthcare organizations; financial services companies; guaranteed student loan agencies; colleges and universities; satellite, cable, and telecommunication companies; utilities and governmental agencies. CBE is dedicated to helping clients achieve their goals with proven solutions, industry best practices and an unwavering commitment to client service.

CBE was initially looking to do an expensive bandwidth upgrade between call centers located across Iowa because user access to its MS SQL-based accounting application had become slow. After investigating several options, it became clear that adding more bandwidth would not be sufficient to speed access to their in-house accounting application.

"After doing our own research on wide-area data services solutions, we narrowed the field to Riverbed®, Juniper and Cisco," said Wolfgang Weiss Jr., manager of IT Infrastructure, CBE Group, Inc. "In a head-to-head evaluation in our labs, Riverbed was the clear winner, based on performance and ease of installation and management. The Riverbed Steelhead solution delivered 87 percent data reduction across the WAN and 8x acceleration of our accounting application, which was very well received by our remote workers."

In fact, remote workers now report that accessing their accounting application is instantaneous -- as if they were working on the LAN. In addition, after deploying Riverbed, CBE found that the costly bandwidth upgrade would not be necessary, which represents a significant savings for the company.

"We're thrilled to have been able to help The CBE Group solve their problem of slow remote access to their accounting application," said Eric Wolford, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Riverbed. "CBE, like the rest of our base of over 3,000 customers, has found our Riverbed Steelhead products to be superior to the competition in delivering better performance, scalability and simplicity of deployment and management."
