CBS 3 to Broadcast Full Coverage of Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium Sunday, April 20, 2 p.m. On-Air and on the Web

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - April 18, 2008) - CBS 3 will air full coverage of the Papal mass at Yankee Stadium in New York City this Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Mass will also be streamed live on CBS3.COM. (Program note: CBS 3's coverage of the LPGA Open, scheduled for 1-3 p.m., and the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament, scheduled for 3-6 p.m., will move to sister station The CW Philly 57/WPSG.)

CBS 3 Anchor Susan Barnett, who is covering the Pope's New York leg of the visit, will introduce the special broadcast being produced by CBS flagship station, WCBS-TV in New York. Chris Wragge and Kristine Johnson of WCBS will anchor the coverage joined by Father Michael Russo, a CBS News Consultant who has covered the Vatican for 20 years. WCBS Reporter Mary Calvi will interview the faithful who have come to Yankee Stadium for the Mass.

Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate the Public Solemn Pontifical Bicentennial Mass after making his first visit to Ground Zero with family members and survivors of September 11th. More than 57,000 Catholics from 195 dioceses across the United States will be in attendance. The mass concludes the Holy Father's six day historic pastoral visit to the United States. This is the largest event of the Pope's three day visit in New York. The service will commemorate the bicentennial anniversaries of the New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Louisville, and Baltimore dioceses. Following the mass, Pope Benedict XVI will return to Rome.
