CBS 3 Receives Prestigious Joe Snyder Award From Pennsylvania AP Broadcasters Association for Outstanding News Service in the State

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 3, 2006 -- CBS 3's "Eyewitness News" is the big winner in the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcast Association annual awards announced on Saturday, April 29th. CBS 3 earned five first-place awards as well as the prestigious Joe Snyder Award for providing the best news service among major market television stations in the state of Pennsylvania. The station placed first in five additional categories: Newscast, News Feature, Spot News Coverage, Sportscast and Sports Feature.

The annual awards recognize outstanding broadcast journalism efforts by television stations. CBS 3's "Eyewitness News at 11p.m." with Anchors Larry Mendte and Alycia Lane, Meteorologist Kathy Orr and Sports Director Beasley Reece received the best Newscast Award for a major market.

Other stories getting kudos were: "Iraq by the Numbers," an end-of-the-year look at conflicts in Iraq and how it touches home by anchor Larry Mendte; "T.O.," a retrospective of Terrell Owens' time in Philadelphia by sports director Beasley Reece; "The Super Bowl," the station's sportscast from Jacksonville after the Eagles' defeat by Reporter Steve Bucci and Sports Director Beasley Reece; "Camden Tragedy," the heart-wrenching story of three children in Camden who disappeared and were found in the trunk of a car, reported by Jamie Smith and Valerie Levesque and anchored by Larry Mendte. The judges especially noted that they "found the station to be sensitive in the coverage of what was a very horrific scene."
