CBTU 15th Annual Awards Dinner, Dance & Fundraiser, "Uniting to Fight for Our Future: The Way Forward"


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 5, 2011) - The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) will be having its 15th Annual Awards Dinner, Dance and Fundraiser this Saturday November 5, 2011. The "meet and greet" will begin at 6:00 pm and dinner will be served at 7:00 pm at the Spirale Banquet & Conference Centre (888 Don Mills Road) in Toronto.

This year's keynote speakers will be from the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), one of Canada's largest unions with over 180,000 members across Canada.

Sharon DeSousa - Regional Executive Vice-President – Ontario

Larry Rousseau - Regional Executive Vice-President – Ottawa

NDP Member of Parliament, Olivia Chow will be accepting the CBTU Annual Leadership Humanitarian Award for her late husband Jack Layton.

This event will bring together trade unionists from across Ontario.

The CBTU works hard to empower workers of colour to participate in the activities of their unions. In addition, the CBTU Ontario chapter works to build coalitions between labour and community organizations and promotes the importance for workers to be organized and actively involved in the labour movement.
