TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - January 16, 2014) - Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) signed a partnership agreement with DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. on January 14, 2014. As part of this agreement, CCFC will receive a donation of $100,000 over the next four (4) years on behalf of DUCA. The funding will support innovative projects in Latin America, Asia and Africa.

At the commitment ceremony, held at DUCA's head office in Toronto, CCFC and DUCA launched four (4) potential projects of which one (1) will receive the first initial investment of $25,000, which will cover the cost of planning, implementation, and training for local community members to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.

"We sincerely appreciate the generosity of DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. in recognizing the growing need for efficient and reliable renewable energy in the developing world," said Mark Lukowski, CEO of Christian Children's Fund of Canada. "DUCA's commitment will have a significant and positive impact on the lives of children and families we support."

The general public will vote for the project that they deem feasible in providing sustainability, economic growth, and community development. The four (4) projects under consideration include:

  • Project 1: providing renewable biogas energy to a community of more than 12,000 people in Ethiopia;
  • Project 2: an income-generating solar panel electricity project for youth and adults in India;
  • Project 3: investing in a solar powered Northern Ghana village to benefit 750 people; and
  • Project 4: solar powered street lighting systems for rural India.

On January 20, voting will open on the DUCA website at www.duca.com and will run until February 14. The winning proposal will be announced on February 17 on the DUCA and CCFC website.
