CDEC Centre-Sud/Plateau Mont-Royal and iFact Inc. Announce Partnership to Strengthen Entrepreneurship in the Development of Greentech Solutions

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 18, 2008) - During yesterday's general assembly, the CDEC Centre-Sud/Plateau Mont-Royal announced a partnership with the management consulting firm iFact inc. in order to launch a study dedicated to identify the needs of emerging entrepreneurs in the greentech sector and to develop an efficient strategy to strengthen the development of this industrial sector. The greentech or cleantech industry represents a wealth of new opportunities, powered by the rise of energy prices and by the willingness of industry stakeholders and citizens to increasingly consume in a responsible and sustainable way with respect to the environment. The objective of this study is therefore to make a first step towards the development of a structured approach to help entrepreneurs engaged in green technology to accelerate the development of their solutions. In this way the CDEC will contribute to maximizing the development of a pool of viable companies in this sector.

The CDEC Centre Sud/Plateau Montreal is committed to the implementation of a a sustainable development strategy on its territory. It is taking a step forward through its efforts to proactively promote the development of a grouping of companies leveraging their technology to create a responsible future. Through this intervention, the CDEC contributes its know-how to the community and builds upon the local economic development that has been jointly accomplished with iFact during the last few years - by developing new business models to support emerging entrepreneurship in different industry sectors.

"The support of emerging entrepreneurs represents an integral part of our mission", confirms Linda Vallee, President of the Board of Directors of the CDEC Centre-Sud/Plateau Mont-Royal. "Together with iFact's team, we have developed an innovative approach to assist young entrepreneurs, as shown by the success of our approach with LABoratoire creatif", continues Ms. Vallee."The LABoratoire creatif, a grouping of companies specialized in fashion design, contributes to the renewal of the fashion scene in Montreal and Quebec. The organization had fewer than twenty emerging member companies less than two years ago, and counts today over one hundred members, some of which have in the meantime doubled or even tripled their revenues during that timeframe."

"The new business models developed jointly with the CDEC are based not only on the advantages and synergies possible within the circle of a group of entrepreneurs, but also on different accompanying measures ranging from a better access to financing and competitively priced locations to support in commercialization issues", explains Sabine Kerner, president of iFact inc. "Having worked with entrepreneurs in other technology sectors, we are convinced that the models developed with the CDEC can equally respond to the needs of this still fragile emerging industry, in spite of its importance for the socio-economic future of Quebec", continues Ms. Kerner.
