CDI College Joins 15th Annual Walk so Kids Can Talk Presented by BMO on May 1st, 2016

CDI College's Campuses Nationwide Will Take Part in the Inspiring 5k Walk in Support of Kids Help Phone

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - April 27, 2016) - On Sunday, May 1st, 2016, CDI College's campuses nationwide will be participating in the 15th season of Walk so Kids Can Talk presented by BMO in support of Kids Help Phone. The inspirational five-kilometer walk is open to families, schools, community organizations, and corporations and will take place at over 30 locations across the country.

Kids Help Phone offers counselling services that serves over 190 Canadian youth on a daily basis, providing 24/7 assistance throughout the year. Since its inception, its free anonymous services have supported over 7.1 million callers across Canada in both English and French.

"Growing up in today's society, kids are facing a wider range of challenges," said Victor Tesan, President of CDI College. "Kids Help Phone allows them to have a safe and secure outlet where they can seek counselling in confidence and receive the help and attention they need. CDI College is proud to be part of such a rewarding cause and to help make a positive impact in our country's youth and their futures."

This May marks the 15th anniversary of the inspirational walk. In 2015, the Walk attracted more than 11,000 participants and raised over $3.3 million in just one day.

"Many of our campuses have hosted their own mini fundraisers and bake sales in addition to signing up for the Walk," said Tesan. "CDI College has always been a supporter of its communities. We're excited to be part of an event that will not only bring awareness to the issues our youth face, but one that will also raise the necessary funds to support programs that help young people feel more empowered and confident when facing challenges in life."

Before the fundraising event began, CDI College had hoped to raise $3,000 but in less than a month, staff and students across Canada had not only met the goal, but exceeded it.

"We are very thrilled with the turnout," said Tesan. "When we come together as a community, we can achieve a lot. The success of this fundraiser demonstrates how ready and willing we are as a school and community to help and support those around us. I'm very proud of our staff and students and look forward to the Walk on Sunday."

Kids Help Phone is one of Canada's leaders known for its expertise in continuous innovation for professional counselling for young people. In 2014, statistics revealed that the top five reasons youth seek counsellors are for mental and emotional health, peer relationships, family relationships, all abuse, and suicide or suicide-related matters.

Throughout the years, donor support has provided the organization with the necessary resources to branch out and deliver additional services that cater to different demographics. One instance is the microsite,, a platform designed for boys ages 14 to 18 where they can open up about and discuss their issues. Other services also include Live Chat, Always There, and Resources Around Me, mobile applications that allow users to seek help via text messaging in real-time as well as search for services in the area.
