CDI Energy Products and EGC Critical Components Achieve One Million Hours Safety Record

Pivotal Milestone for Houston Manufacturer and a Significant First for Fenner PLC as It Pushes Ahead in Its Renewed Commitment to Safety Excellence

HUMBLE, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 26, 2013) - CDI Energy Products, Inc. (CDI) and EGC Critical Components, LLC (EGC) (formerly known collectively as FAST Group-Houston, Inc.) are proud to announce the achievement of working one million hours without a lost time injury at their manufacturing facilities in Humble, Texas. CDI and EGC reached this milestone in June, making the two companies the first of the Fenner PLC ("Fenner") Group of companies to ever meet this important safety milestone. CDI and EGC are members of Fenner's Advanced Engineered Products (AEP) division. As of today, CDI and EGC employees have worked more than one point three million hours without a lost time injury, and the clock is still ticking.

"We are quite pleased with what we have been able to accomplish together at this facility," said James Barnett, the divisional director of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE). "It is truly a testament to everyone's commitment to safety -- from the janitor who sweeps the floor to the skilled machinist to the management executive -- safety is a top priority and a key characteristic of our operating culture. The Humble manufacturing facility now provides a model for other divisions to follow."

In 2009, Fenner launched the Health and Safety Management System Framework (The Framework), a rigorous safety awareness initiative based on consistent communication and a ceaseless determination to improve every aspect of the business, including health, safety and environmental. This heighted awareness and attention to assessing and eliminating potential safety hazards has resulted in a markedly improved health and safety environment for the workforce and the communities in which the Fenner Group of companies operate.

"Incentive programs based on teams who are measured and scored by proactive behavior instead of injury rates have been a significant contribution to us reaching the one million hours," said Barnett. "In addition, sustainable components within the company's safety management system that apply outside the workplace, such as speed-related driver safety reminders posted in our parking lot, have also had a positive impact. Our employees understand that safe behavior doesn't stop at work, and safety is not a destination -- it is a journey. The achievement is just one of the first markers on our path to continuous improvement."

To recognize CDI and EGC's safety success, Nicholas Hobson, Fenner's Chief Executive Officer, will present its employees with the company's inaugural "Millionaire's Club" award for safety excellence. The award will be presented during a special luncheon ceremony on Thursday, October 3, at the company's 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility located in Humble, Texas. More than 440 employees work at this location.
