Celebrate Earth Day With the Canadian Wildlife Federation #walkforwildlife

OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - April 21, 2015) - This Earth Day, take a walk on the wild side with the Canadian Wildlife Federation Walk for Wildlife. The national campaign runs until May 31 and gives people across the country an opportunity to show their support for conservation while making time to connect with nature themselves. This year's goal is to raise awareness and funds for migratory species at risk.

As part of Earth Day Celebrations, there are lots of ways to get involved in CWF's Walk for Wildlife.

  • Choose to dedicate your walk for one of the twenty featured at-risk migrating species like the burrowing owl, monarch butterfly, and polar bear
  • Become part of the Fundraising Loyalty Program. Raise over $100 and receive a special Walk for Wildlife t-shirt, subscription to Canadian Wildlife magazine and a Wild Champion certificate. Top individual fundraiser will receive a $500 gift card to a major outdoor equipment retailer
  • Join in one of the many community organized walks taking place across the country, post individual or group walks on the interactive on-line map, and log your kilometres in our national tally
  • Get a workplace, team or school involved in the Team Challenge for a chance to win fabulous prizes. Top team fundraiser will be treated to a catered lunch at their establishment up to $200

"We want Canadians to show how much they care about conserving wildlife," says CWF (@CWF_FCF) CEO and Executive Vice-President Wade Luzny. "Our country is blessed with amazing wildlife. Regrettably, too many of our migrating species are at risk because of human and environmental pressures. By joining in CWF's Walk for Wildlife, you will be supporting our work to help migrating species at risk and exploring the natural world right in your own backyard. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day."
