Celebrate Halloween With Leopard Geckos at Petco's Reptile Rally

Learn More About Why These "Boo"tiful Animals Make Great Pets During Petco's Nationwide Family-Friendly Reptile Rally October 12, 2013

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 8, 2013) - This Halloween season, one animal above all else is sure to sport one of the best costumes around. With skin boasting a variety of colors and patterns, the leopard gecko never needs to play dress up because its vibrant exterior is costume enough. Plus, squeamish moms need not worry; these creatures aren't creepy or scary, meaning kids will have to find another way to frighten the family this Halloween. Back by popular demand, Petco will host its second Reptile Rally this year to honor this fantastic pet and its kin. Petco's Reptile Rally invites ghouls and goblins of all ages to learn about the leopard gecko and other reptiles October 12, 2013 from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Leopard geckos are one of America's most popular lizards because they are fun to care for and make a great addition to any home. During Petco's Reptile Rally event, current leopard gecko pet parents can prove they have the best looking animal in town during the "Most BOOtiful Reptile Contest". Both current and future pet parents can learn about the whole health of their leopard geckos including how to care for their physical, mental, social and emotional needs. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand to answer questions and lead a Reptile Rally Mythbusters Game to debunk some myths about leopard geckos such as:

MYTH #1 - They're slimy
Fact: A leopard gecko's beautifully patterned skin is velvety smooth. Their skin has small bumps on it that give them a nice texture. It is very durable and helps protect the leopard gecko from danger.
MYTH #2 - They're scary
Fact: This docile animal is considered a great pet for children because they are gentle, patient and fun to care for. Their easy-going personality makes them easy to handle.
MYTH #3 - They're boring
Fact: There are many attributes of leopard geckos that make them one of the most interesting reptiles. For example, when feeling threatened, leopard geckos can drop their tail so they can get away from predators easily. They are the only geckos with eyelids that can open and close. Leopard geckos also talk! They have a small bark they let out to let pet parents know how they are feeling.
