Celebrate World Plumbing Day - March 11

Attention: Assignment Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Media Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 7, 2011) - Every single person on this planet is affected by the availability of clean drinking water and basic
sanitation. Join us in celebrating WORLD PLUMBING DAY on March 11, 2011 - Plumbing
organizations across the country are joining the Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada
(MCAC) and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) to undertake activities with the
aim of raising awareness to the important role played by Canada's plumbing industry.
Established in 2010, thanks to the efforts of the World Plumbing Council (WPC),
www.worldplumbing.org, World Plumbing Day is dedicated to helping the general public better
understand the vital role the plumbing industry plays in protecting public health and safety, the extent
to which it helps limit mankind's environmental footprint and other important work performed by
contractors, inspectors, installers, engineers, and manufacturers that is often taken for granted.
WPC Chairman, Mr. Robert Burgon stated "Our hope is that on World Plumbing Day, the world will
come to realize that plumbing is essential in protecting both the health of our people and the health
of our planet. In developing countries, many people have yet to discover the real difference that
plumbing can make. Where countries have developed plumbing systems, the role of our industry is
often taken for granted."
As a means of promoting World Plumbing Day in Canada and around the word, the partnership of
MCAC, CIPH and the WPC will be providing content for industry and national news publications,
engaging in promotional efforts on a national, provincial and regional level, providing powerpoint
presentations for school discussions, and representatives will be approaching the federal, provincial
and municipal governments for their support and assistance in promoting World Plumbing Day.
On March 11 MCAC, CIPH and WPC will be joined by other Canadian members of the WPC
including the Mechanical Contractors Association of Alberta, the Canadian Standards Association,
the Ontario and British Columbia Plumbing Inspectors Association, UA Local 787 and 67, and the
International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials to bring this vital component of our
world to everyone's attention. Any parties interested in promoting the globally important role of
plumbing have access to promotional information and fact sheets, available at
www.worldplumbingday.org, to encourage these organizations to plan activities celebrating World
Plumbing Day in their own locations. The information on the website has been designed so that it
can be reproduced, amended, and supplemented for use as we lead up to this year's celebration. IN: LABOUR
