Celebrate World Wish Day(R) With Make-A-Wish(R) Canada for a Chance to Win the Thrill of a Lifetime!

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - April 09, 2015) - On April 29, Make-A-Wish® will celebrate World Wish Day®, a global anniversary which commemorates seven-year-old Chris Greicius from Phoenix, AZ who suffered from leukemia and wished to be a police officer for the day. Chris's wish inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish in 1980, which has since grown into the largest wish-granting organization in the world, granting more than 334,000 wishes to date.

Make-A-Wish® Canada will recognize World Wish Day® throughout the month of April from coast to coast with local celebrations, the lighting of various landmarks in blue/white, city proclamations and of course, some very special wishes for children living with life-threatening medical conditions like Kayla, who suffers from cancer. The five-year-old Moncton girl wants for nothing more than to play the violin and on April 29, her wish will come true with her very own recital.

"We granted close to 500 incredible wishes across the country in 2014," said Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, president & CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. "Since our inception in 1983, over 6,000 magical wishes have been granted in Canada and we extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to our amazing volunteers and donors who share the same passion for our mission and have made this possible."
