Celebrating Arts, Culture and Heritage in Canada's North

WHITEHORSE, YUKON--(Marketwired - Sept. 3, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Ryan Leef, Member of Parliament (Yukon), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced support for eight Yukon-based projects through the Celebrate Canada program and the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Funding will support a range of activities including local celebrations for National Aboriginal Day, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day and Canada Day, as well as for local concert series and festivals.

• Eight organizations in Yukon received a combined total of $202,800 through the Department of Canadian Heritage's Celebrate Canada program and the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
• The Canada Arts Presentation Fund gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
• Celebrate Canada is an 11-day period from June 21 to July 1 that includes National Aboriginal Day on June 21, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24, Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27, and Canada Day on July 1.
