Celebrating Dallas Park and Recreation Month: Kick-Off Event June 28 Highlights 101 Things to Do in Your Dallas Parks for Fun and Fitness

DALLAS, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 27, 2005 --


Dallas Park and Recreation Board and Department kick off July 2005 Park and Recreation Month with a celebration of fun and fitness for 360 children from Dallas Recreation Centers. The celebration is sponsored by McDonald's and 24 Hour Fitness, with a special appearance by Ronald McDonald.


The 20-minute Kick-Off program beginning at 10:00 a.m. will include presentations by City of Dallas officials and conclude with a group activity for 360 participating children, led by Ronald McDonald. Following the program, children will enjoy a dozen special activity stations, featuring sports, fitness and fun offered at Dallas Parks and Recreation facilities, including:

--  Baseball
--  Basketball
--  Frisbee Golf
--  Kite Kraft
--  Golf
--  Hip Hop Dance from Dallas Parks and 24 Hour Fitness instructors
--  Nutrition advice from Dallas Parks and McDonald's nutritionists
--  Soccer
--  Hands-on learning from the Dallas Museum of Natural History and Dallas

Dallas Parks and Recreation offers a myriad of fun and fitness activities for children and adults throughout the community -- everything from a stroll under the trees or a romp with Fido at the dog park, to team sports, sailing and swimming, golf and tennis, free, drop-in camps for kids ages six to 17 at 17 facilities throughout the city. During the month of July 2005, National Park and Recreation Month, Dallas Parks is celebrating the rich variety of programs and services available to all citizens, by asking everyone in the community, "Have you been to your park today?"
