Celebrating Local Art and Culture at the Chester Art Festival

Government of Canada provides financial support to the Chester Art Centre Association


CHESTER, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - July 25, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Chester Art Centre Association will receive funding of $2,000 for its annual festival through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program.

Gerald Keddy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Member of Parliament (South Shore-St. Margaret's), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

From August 8 to 16, 2014, the Chester Art Centre Association will present the 7th edition of the Chester Art Festival. This year's event, entitled "A Work in Progress," includes performances by local musicians, demonstrations by local artists and artisans, and children's activities. A one-day art exhibition on August 9 is designed to give about 30 local artists and artisans from Chester a chance to showcase their work to the public.

  • The Chester Art Centre was founded in April 2007 by artists and art lovers with a desire to bring art to the community. The Centre is located in the picturesque seaside village of Chester.
