Celebrating the Centennial of the Rural Municipality of East St. Paul

EAST ST. PAUL, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - July 7, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing funding of $53,000 to the Rural Municipality of East St. Paul for its 100^th anniversary celebrations. This support is being provided through the Community Anniversaries component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Joy Smith, Member of Parliament (Kildonan-St. Paul), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

• The Rural Municipality of East St. Paul will celebrate its 100^th anniversary in 2016.
• Centennial celebrations will take place throughout the year and kick off with an anniversary launch event on January 4, 2016, to commemorate the 100^th anniversary of the first meeting of council.
• A community festival will take place during the summer and feature local musical groups, artisans, a public display of historical artifacts and storytelling by local historians.
• Commemorative activities will also include a lasting centennial banner project, a community art project, a centennial book and the creation of a centennial quilt.
