Government of Canada supports the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 13, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $99,700 under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program to support the 18th edition of the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival. The Festival celebrates Ukrainian culture and heritage through free community-oriented programming.

Ted Opitz, Member of Parliament (Etobicoke Centre), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

  • This year's festival will take place from September 12 to 14 and will include music and dance performances by local artists, heritage arts and crafts workshops, films, interactive dance lessons and an art exhibit.
  • The event is the largest Ukrainian street festival in North America.
  • Canada is home to the world's third largest population of Ukrainians, after Ukraine itself and Russia.
