Celebrity Couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic Collaborate With Resolve: The National Infertility Association, and Fertility LifeLines™ to Reduce the Stigma Associated With Fertility Issues

New Online Public Service Announcement Encourages Open Communication and Early Visits to Fertility Specialist

ROCKLAND, MA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2010) -  Celebrity news anchor Giuliana Rancic and her husband, entrepreneur and The Apprentice season one winner Bill Rancic are collaborating with RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, and Fertility LifeLines™ to encourage couples who are having trouble conceiving to see a fertility specialist as soon as possible to get evaluated and learn about fertility in a new online public service announcement. The online public service announcement features the couple speaking openly about their difficulty getting pregnant, educating about the prevalence of infertility and urging people to communicate about their own fertility issues with a specialist as soon as possible.

"Bill and I have been living out our road to parenthood on national television, however most people are reluctant to talk about infertility due to the stigma attached, so there are a lot of misconceptions out there," explains Giuliana. "Our goal is to reduce the stigma associated with infertility by sharing our own story, and help people get information to increase their chances of conceiving."

RESOLVE urges people under the age of 35 who have been trying to conceive for a year or more, or are over the age of 35 and have been trying to conceive for six months, to visit a fertility specialist as soon as possible in order to potentially reduce the chance of frustration later.

"One in eight couples has difficulty conceiving -- that's 7.3 million people in the U.S.," says Barbara Collura, Executive Director, RESOLVE. "Since there's no perfect formula to getting pregnant, it's never too soon to take action and see a specialist and the good news is that many fertility issues are treated with conventional therapies. Less than five percent of infertile couples in treatment end up using IVF."

The online public service announcement and Fertility LifeLines™ are provided by EMD Serono , Inc.
