Celebrity Medieval Cupcakes Mark Medieval Times' 30th Anniversary

BUENA PARK, CA--(Marketwired - July 31, 2016) - Four celebrity bakers will get medieval on Cupcake Wars tomorrow night (August 1, at 5 p.m. PDT on the Food Network & Cooking Channel) to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of Medieval Times castle in Buena Park, California. (from r to l) Actress Vanessa Marano (Switched at Birth), comedienne Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), actor/producer Carson Kressley (Queer Eye), and fitness guru and TV host Brooke Burke-Charvet (Dancing with the Stars) will battle to prove that their cupcakes reign supreme. In this winner-take-all televised contest, the celebrities will compete for bragging rights, the chance to have their cupcakes featured at Medieval Times 30th anniversary blowout party, and to receive a donation to their charity of choice.

French pastry chef Florian Bellanger and actress and Bird Bakery owner Elizabeth Chambers will be joined by Medieval Times local cast members Lou Klein (who plays the role of King Don Carlos) and Julia McCurdie (who plays the role of Princess Catalina) to judge the entries. The show is hosted by Jonathan Bennett.

It's no wonder Medieval Times, which has been the setting for nearly 30 Hollywood productions including The Cable Guy (1996) and The Apprentice (2012), came up with this novel approach to its anniversary celebration.

"We've entertained more than 15 million guests since 1986," said Medieval Times General Manager Pedro Goite. "That's a lot of baby dragon (roasted chicken) and dragon's blood (tomato bisque soup). To celebrate our 30th anniversary, with apologies to Marie Antoinette, we said, 'Let them also eat (cup)cake!' "
