SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - July 9, 2008) - Franklin Wireless Corp. (OTCBB : FKWL ), a
developer and marketer of wireless broadband communications devices and
applications, announced that Cellular South has technically approved the
CDU-680 USB broadband modem, Franklin Wireless' best-selling USB modem,
which operates on ultra-fast CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A networks.
Cellular South's approval of the CDU-680 is the first step toward the
operator's commercial introduction of the modem on its wireless network.
The compact CDU-680 USB modem is the first EV-DO Rev. A USB modem to
incorporate flash memory and a unique swiveling USB connector. It provides
a flexible way for users to connect to the EV-DO Rev. A network, offering
compatibility with laptop, tablet PC or desktop USB ports and the ability
to operate with Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems.
"At Cellular South, providing access to an all-wireless lifestyle for
consumers is one of our main goals," said Jim Richmond, director of
corporate communications, Cellular South. "Convenient, easy-to-use devices
like the CDU-680 USB modem allow us to continuously improve service for our
customers and give them new lifestyle options."
One differentiating feature of the CDU-680 product is the onboard flash
memory, which eliminates the need for a CD or DVD drive to install the
factory pre-stored Connection Manager software for PC, Mac and Linux
computers. The modem also provides enough space to store downloaded music
files, documents and an Installation Guide. Another unique feature, the
swiveling USB connector, allows the modem to be raised vertically or folded
away when not in use.
"With the CDU-680 USB modem, Franklin Wireless continues to push the
envelope with high-end features and capabilities for wireless broadband USB
modems," said Mr. O.C. Kim, president of Franklin Wireless. "We are pleased
that Cellular South has granted the CDU-680 modem technical approval. The
product's multi-platform connectivity solution gives end users the freedom
to connect anywhere, anytime."
