Cellular South Opens New High-Tech Center in Heart of Jackson

Technical Operations Center Constructed as Part of Cellular South $140 Million Network Investment

JACKSON, MS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 27, 2007 -- Cellular South, the nation's largest privately held wireless provider, today announced the grand opening of its new Technical Operations Center in downtown Jackson. The state-of-the-art facility, boasting some of the most advanced wireless communications equipment available, is part of Cellular South's significant 2006 network-wide investment of more than $140 million -- bringing unmatched wireless coverage, capacity and reliability to Cellular South customers across the company's footprint.

Cellular South's President Hu Meena today will join Mayor Melton and Duane O'Neill, president of the Metro-Jackson Chamber of Commerce, to officially open the doors to the next-generation Technical Operations Center during a grand opening ceremony. Complete with a catfish fry luncheon and VIP tours, the event will offer local dignitaries a first-hand look at one of the most secure and technologically advanced structures ever built in Mississippi.

"Cellular South continues to invest a significant amount of dollars in our network system to be the best service provider within our region," said Meena. "The Technical Operations Center will enhance our ability to provide customers with the latest in wireless voice and data technology and the highest quality service."

The 18,500 square-foot facility houses some of the most sophisticated wireless communications equipment available today. Strong enough to withstand the devastating force of an earthquake or F4 tornado, the fail-proof structure was constructed to protect the state's communications network during the most dangerous disasters and weather conditions.

"We recognize the importance of a strong network, especially during a national disaster like Hurricane Katrina," explained Meena. "Our customers depended on their cell phones and a reliable network to communicate with loved ones during and after the storm. We realize the trust customers have placed in us and are determined to continue to be the network they can count on in any situation."

Cellular South's Technical Operations Center and $140 million network-wide investment have significantly strengthened, enhanced and grown Cellular South's voice and data networks in both metropolitan and rural areas -- bringing its customers unmatched coverage and capacity. In one year, Cellular South added and activated more than 200 new antenna sites, deployed a high-speed wireless broadband network (EV-DO) and created a permanent microwave ring for redundancy and wireless security across the Gulf Coast region.

Since 1999, Cellular South has invested more than $500 million in its network to improve call quality and coverage, and further increase capacity for data usage, including text and picture messaging, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving email and downloading music. The company's 2006 investment in wireless infrastructure follows a similar $39 million initiative in 2005. For more information, visit
