Cemaphore, First to License Microsoft's Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol

Cemaphore's MailShadow Delivers True Disaster Recovery for Users of Microsoft Exchange Server

SAN MATEO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 21, 2007 -- Cemaphore Systems, a leading innovator in email disaster recovery, announces that the company has licensed the Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol (previously known as MAPI) specification from Microsoft. Cemaphore becomes the first Reference Licensee of the protocol specification.

The company's flagship product, MailShadow®, uses the Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol to deliver mailbox-level disaster recovery for Microsoft Exchange Server. This license enables the Cemaphore development team to have direct access to the specification to ensure seamless interoperability with Exchange Server and Microsoft Office Outlook.

"Licensing the Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol to software developers provides a supported protocol for third parties to interact with Exchange Server," said Donna Conner, group product manager at Microsoft Corp. "We are excited that Cemaphore has chosen to use this protocol to deliver added value to our Exchange customers."

The Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol is used by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to communicate with Office Outlook 2007. This Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol has evolved over the last 15 years to work with the Messaging APIs and to support a rich Personal Information Management (PIM) environment such as email, calendar, contacts, and task functionality in Office Outlook 2007.

MailShadow, using Outlook-Exchange Transport Protocol, allows its users to optimize the cost and efficiency of a disaster recovery solution by protecting only critical mailboxes and allowing failover of individual mailboxes to another live Exchange server in the Exchange organization.

"We're using the specification to improve and support our disaster recovery product -- MailShadow," states Tyrone Pike, CEO of Cemaphore Systems. "This will enable MailShadow to work as efficiently as possible with Exchange Server so that our customers have reliable and robust solutions when they need it most."
