Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) Acquires Soteria Imaging's Two LIFESCAN Upright MRI Centers in Minnesota

CDI's Industry-Leading Clinical and Practice Management Expertise Behind Growth of Its Open Upright MRI Services

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - Dec 6, 2011) - Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) today announced that it has acquired Soteria Imaging's two Twin Cities-based LIFESCAN Upright MRI centers located in St. Louis Park and Little Canada, Minnesota. Effectively immediately, CDI closed LIFESCAN St. Louis Park center due to its proximity to CDI's Open Upright MRI services in the same community, but will transition the LIFESCAN Upright MRI Little Canada facility to a CDI center.

"As CDI continues to grow, we are focused on providing communities access to quality imaging services in a convenient, cost-effective outpatient setting. Over the years, our physicians and team have developed specialized Open Upright MRI clinical applications for the benefit of patients and their referring physicians, so that this technology can be used optimally in guiding a variety of diagnoses and treatments," said Rick Long, Chief Operating Officer, CDI. "Our goal through this acquisition is to extend our service and expertise to the patients and referring physicians who live or practice near the Little Canada center, all the while ensuring we're not duplicating imaging services in communities like St. Louis Park."

Open Upright MRI is the only MRI scanner where a patient can stand, sit, or lay down for imaging procedures, which is helpful for imaging of claustrophobic and larger patients, but also utilized for specialized exams of the spine. In addition to Open Upright MRI technology, CDI offers locally and nationally a variety of MRI scanner technologies to meet patients' needs.

CDI currently owns and operates eleven outpatient imaging centers in the Twin Cities, and nine in greater Minnesota communities of Alexandria, Deer River, Duluth (two centers), Grand Rapids, St. Cloud (three centers) and Willmar.
