Center for Venous Disease Varicose Vein Treatment Centers Announce Completion of American Board of Phlebology Certification

GLENDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Jun 21, 2012) - The Center for Venous Disease® would like to announce and congratulate our Medical Directors for completing the American Board of Phlebology (ABPh) certification requirements (americanboardofphlebology.org) related to venous disease treatment. The American Board of Phlebology was established in 2007. The primary goals of the ABPh designation were to: Improve the standards of medical practitioners and the quality of patient care related to the treatment of venous disease (varicose vein treatment). Standards were established for training and education, Award Certification, ongoing maintenance and continuing education requirements. A registry of physician specialists in the practice of Phlebology was established.

"The importance of having ABPh vein specialists working with CVD cannot be understated. As a patient, you should seek out the best qualified doctor in your area for your particular medical condition. After all, you wouldn't see a primary care physician if you needed a Heart transplant, would you? So, why would you schedule a doctor's appointment with a non-specialist for your leg issues? That's where the ABPh certification comes in." - James A. Heinz, M.A.H.A.

CVD recognizes the achievements of Drs: Joseph M. Smith (Santa Fe, NM), Thomas Pester (El Paso, TX), Felice' Bruno (El Paso, TX), Thomas Elliott (Tucson, AZ), David M. Smith (Glendale, AZ), Michael A. Herion, (Glendale, AZ) William Fulton (Gilbert, AZ), and Thomas Strawn (Phoenix, AZ). They have all demonstrated through peer review, course review, and testing standards of their advanced educational experience related to varicose vein, spider veins, venous ulcers, skin breakdown, swollen legs, restless legs, wound care, and painful throbbing legs.

It is a CVD® mandate that all CVD Medical Directors have the ABPh certification regardless of their other Board Certifications. In most cases, CVD doctors are triple-board certified and have surgical training with ultrasound experience.

CVD owns and operates Total Vein Care centers in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. CVD continues to grow posting increases over prior year in billed charges and a 26% increase in revenue through May 2012. CVD is recognized at the National Level as one of the premier vein care treatment centers in the U.S.

CVD utilizes the ClosureFAST™ radio-frequency catheter system from Covidien Vascular Therapies. This technology has been clinically proven to have less post-procedure pain and bruising as compared to Endovenous Laser (EVLT or EVL) procedures.
