The Government of Canada supports the economic recovery of the town of Lac-Megantic

LAC-MÉGANTIC, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 25, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Government of Canada supports the economic and commercial recovery of the town of Lac-Mégantic in the aftermath of the rail accident that occurred on July 6, 2013, and has made it a priority to be there for businesses and the community for the short, medium and long term.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, announced that the Centre d'esthétique Visa-Beauté Santé Spa obtained $298,700 in financial assistance for the recovery of the business in a new permanent facility, which was inaugurated on Tuesday in downtown Lac- Mégantic.

Created in 1983 in downtown Lac-Mégantic, Visa-Beauté Santé Spa provides a range of medical esthetic care (face and body), specialized esthetic care (endermology, microdermabrasion, infusion and radio frequency treatments), as well as massage therapy. In addition, the new building will house an HML training room that focuses on fitness training. The business is also planning a second phase with the opening of an urban Nordic spa.

The financial assistance was granted in the form of a non-repayable contribution under the Support for SMEs and Organizations component of the Economic Recovery Initiative for Lac-Mégantic (ERILM), administered by Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). More specifically, it helped reduce the costs of the land acquisition, construction of the building, exterior design and professional fees for the permanent reopening of the Centre d'esthétique Visa-Beauté in downtown Lac-Mégantic.

The ERILM consists of a $35 million budget allocation and is divided into three components: City Reconstruction Projects, Support for SMEs and Organizations, and Investment Funds, which are administered by the Mégantic region Société d'aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC).
