Centrica Energy Deploys EnerPrise Market Analytics From Global Energy Decisions for Planning and Market Modelling

Simulates Energy, Ancillary Services, and Capacity Markets; Utilised for UK Power Market Modelling

LONDON and BOULDER, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 11, 2006 -- Centrica Energy (the UK's largest supplier of residential gas and electricity) has adopted the EnerPrise Market Analytics solution from Global Energy Decisions (Global Energy) to perform market modelling and price forecasting following extensive back cast testing against historical UK power market data.

"Our objective was to deploy a solution meeting our rigorous criteria for power market price forecasting and market modelling, including being able to pass acceptance testing against actual historic market performance," said Tony Reed, Head of Energy Analysis, Energy Management Group, Centrica plc. "EnerPrise Market Analytics not only gives us the capability to model key electricity markets, but is providing significant value by helping us understand market fundamentals and their implications for future prices."

Centrica implemented the EnerPrise Market Analytics module to meet their decision support needs for fundamental electricity market modelling, analysis, and forecasting for energy, ancillary services, and capacity markets. Market Analytics utilises Global Energy's PROSYM--the most widely adopted chronological simulation engine in the industry--which provides detailed models with advanced commitment and interchange logic used for system studies and regional market modelling.

"EnerPrise Market Analytics gives us the flexibility to develop fundamental analyses to build forecasts and resource plans that account for market uncertainty. This benefits Centrica customers and shareholders," said Steve Mancey, Director of Procurement Strategy, Centrica.

"Centrica put our Market Analytics product through real stress testing before accepting it as their market modelling platform. Our EnerPrise software is designed to meet these kind of challenges and I am delighted that we have demonstrated our ability to meet Centrica's needs in order to improve their business results," said Ron McMahan, CEO of Global Energy Decisions.
