Century Announces Additional Exploration Drill Intercepts at Lamaque Main Plug Deposit

BLAINE, WASHINGTON--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2005) - Century Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE:CMM) is pleased to announce preliminary intercepts from its diamond drill program on the eastward extension of Lamaque Vein #1 near the Main Plug of the Sigma-Lamaque Complex, at Val d'Or, Quebec. The Main Plug is located approximately 2 kilometers from the Sigma mill, and hosts shears and extension veins within a granodioritic plug that was the primary source of ore for the historic Lamaque Mine. The Main Plug of the Lamaque Mine produced over 4 million ounces of gold over its 50-year history.

The high-grade intercepts show excellent continuity with previous drill results along the extension of the #1 Vein, and are at shallow depths suitable for open-pit mining. Highlights from the Century drilling include: 10.3 feet at 15.86 g/t Au; 23.1 feet grading 7.8 g/t; and 8.0 feet grading 5.7 g/t.

The geological and assay information from the drill program is being integrated into the existing software model to facilitate a new pit design and mine plan that are being developed in anticipation of mining the deposit in the very near future. The Lamaque Main Plug ore and its vein extensions will be used to supplement ore feed from the Sigma pit to the Sigma mill.

The Company's Vice President of Exploration, Ross F. Burns, P.Geo., L.G., who is designated as a Qualified Person with the ability and authority to verify the authenticity and validity of drill results, prepared the technical information contained in this news release. The exploration program was supervised by Erika Shepard, M.Sc., the Company's Exploration Manager. Samples were analyzed at the Company's assay laboratory at the Sigma Mine.

Margaret Kent, President and Chief Executive Officer said, "The drill results on the Main Plug, as well as the results on the West Plug that we reported on October 11, indicate areas of high-grade ore that will supplement feed from the Sigma pit to the mill in the near future. Both deposits will be mined from surface and are within close trucking distance of the mill."
