Century Announces Preliminary Drill Results at West Plug Deposit

BLAINE, WASHINGTON--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 11, 2005) - Century Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE:CMM) is pleased to announce preliminary results from its diamond drill program at the West Plug of the Sigma-Lamaque Complex, Val d'Or, Quebec. The West Plug is located approximately 2 kilometers from the Sigma mill, and hosts shears and extension veins within a granodioritic plug geologically equivalent to the Main Plug of the historic Lamaque Mine. The Main Plug of the Lamaque Mine produced over 4 million ounces of gold over its 50-year history.

A total of 5,432 feet of diamond drilling have been completed, and 686 NQ core samples have been assayed to date. Of these, 94 assays returned greater than 2 grams per tonne (g/t), and 56 assays returned greater than 5 g/t. The high-grade intercepts show remarkable continuity with previous drill results, and are at shallow depths suitable for open-pit mining. Highlights from the drilling include: 22.9 feet grading 13.25 g/t; 24.2 feet grading 5.91 g/t; and 10 feet grading 14.9 g/t.

The geological and assay information from the drill program is being integrated into the existing GEMCOM software model to move the current West Plug resource into the reserve category. At the same time a new pit design and mine plan are being developed in anticipation of mining the deposit in the very near future. The West Plug ore will be used to supplement ore feed from the Sigma pit to the Sigma mill.

Currently the West Plug has Measured & Indicated Resources of 693,000 tonnes @ 2.29 g/t Au (51,000 ozs.) using a cutoff of 0.5 g/t Au. In addition, West Plug has Inferred Resources of 489,000 tonnes @ 1.89 g/t Au at the same cutoff (29,700 ozs.). These resources are NI 43-101 compliant, and were included as part of a Technical Report for the Sigma-Lamaque Complex by Ms. Tracy J. Armstrong. The report was published on the SEDAR web site (www.sedar.com) on October 20, 2004 after review by the TSX Venture Exchange. The updated resources and reserves for West Plug will be announced as soon as they are available.

"This project is a continuation of our corporate strategy of developing properties with previously discovered, yet undeveloped, mineral assets. The West Plug mineralization is just one of several targets within the Sigma-Lamaque Complex that advance this goal", said Margaret Kent, President and Chief Executive Officer of Century Mining.
