SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - July 12, 2007) - bizSanDiego, a brand comprised of emerging tools and resources, such as a business management magazine, Web site and speaker series, designed to foster meaningful conversations among members of the local business community, will host San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders at its bizExchange speaker series July 26.

Sanders will participate in an intimate, moderated discussion about his approach to governing America's Finest City and his efforts as "CEO of San Diego" to manage city operations. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact directly with Sanders as he takes questions from the audience following the question and answer session with the moderator. Tickets for bizExchange are $35 and can be purchased at speakerseries.bizsandiego.com.

"Sanders is more than a politician, he is a CEO," said Jon Hindman, editor of bizSanDiego's monthly online business magazine and Web site. "The mayor has approached the operation of the city as a businessman would approach a new venture. Essentially, he is the chief officer for the city of San Diego, and his proven track record for being able to transform organizations into increasingly efficient entities makes his insight valuable to any business leader."

Sworn in as mayor of San Diego in December 2005, Sanders has enjoyed a long-standing career in public service. He served as police chief of the San Diego Police Department from 1993 to 1999, topping off a 26-year tenure with the department. In addition to his work in law enforcement, Sanders has held prominent positions within the private sector. As president and CEO of the United Way of San Diego in 1999, Sanders decreased overhead costs dramatically. He also has consulted for local high-tech start-up companies involving homeland security and the assessment of infrastructure.

"We are excited to be able to include Mayor Sanders' insights in the conversation at the next bizExchange," said Hindman. "His appearance at the speaker series provides a rare opportunity for business leaders to exchange ideas with a high-ranking elected official in the most intimate of settings."

bizExchange will be held at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa July 26, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. For more information on the bizExchange speaker series and continental breakfast, please visit speakerseries.bizsandiego.com or call 619/308-0420.
