CEUDA/Media Advisory: Commons Justice Committee to
Hear Shocking Evidence Supporting CEUDA's Call for
Border Patrol

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 21, 2005) - The House of Commons
Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency
Preparedness studied the closure of 9 RCMP Detachments along Quebec's
southern border, and in December 2004 heard testimony from mayors of 9
southern Quebec municipalities, the Deputy Prime Minister - the
Honourable Anne McLellan, the President and Vice President of CBSA, and
from RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli.

The Committee recommended that the RCMP Detachments be kept open until
Parliament could review the matter and pronounce itself but Commissioner
Zaccardelli closed them regardless.

CEUDA and the Quebec RCMP Officers Association have been invited to
testify before the Committee and will present alarming information about
the number of vehicles that illegally enter Canada without reporting to
Customs - at recognized border crossings and via unguarded roads, as
well as other disturbing information about border security shortfalls.

CEUDA will call on the Government of Canada to create a Border
Patrol

WHEN: 9 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2005

WHERE: Room 253 D, Centre Block, Parliament Hill

WHO: Ron Moran, President, CEUDA
Jean-Pierre Fortin, National Vice-President, CEUDA
Gaetan Delisle, President, Quebec RCMP Officers
Association

NOTES: 1) RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli is
testifying after CEUDA and the Quebec RCMP
Officers Association; and
2) The House of Commons Broadcast Service is
recording our appearance before the Justice
Committee
