CEUDA Offers Support to its Police Officer Partners

ONTARIO, OTTAWA--(Marketwire - Sept. 7, 2007) - August 31, 2007, CEUDA took advantage of the peaceful demonstration of the common front consisting of three staff unions of the City of Gatineau (Quebec) to offer its unconditional support to the Fraternité des policiers et policières de Gatineau (FPPG), a member organization of the Canadian Police Association (CPA), in their action for a settlement of their labour negotiations.

Following a negotiation deadlock regarding their new labour contract, the Employer, the City of Gatineau, decided to ask an arbitrator of the Department of Labour to settle the dispute rather than opt for a mediator, as the Fraternité would have wished.

The Police Collective Agreement expired December 31, 2006.

CEUDA is a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), which represents Canada's front-line Customs and Immigration Officers. CEUDA also represents Investigation, Intelligence and Trade Customs Officers, Immigration, Inland, Enforcement and Hearings Officers as well as all support staff - all of whom work at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
