Renowned Commentator to Present Global Macroeconomic and Market Outlook at CSU on March 22nd

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwire - Mar 11, 2011) - The CFA Society of Cleveland (CFASC) and Cleveland State University Nance College of Business will host renowned financial commentator Dennis Gartman, editor and publisher of The Gartman Letter, on Tuesday, March 22nd. Mr. Gartman will present his current outlook for the global economy and capital markets. The event will be held in Ballroom C at the Cleveland State University Student Center located at 1899 East 22nd Street in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

Registrants are invited to check in between 3:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. For those who are interested, the CFASC will offer a presentation on the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program beginning at 4:15 p.m. The CFA program is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of financial analysts administered by the CFA Institute. The curriculum covers investment analysis, portfolio management, financial statement analysis, corporate finance, economics, performance measurement, and professional ethics. Mr. Gartman's presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Attendance is free of charge to CFASC members as well as one guest per member, CFA candidates, students, and faculty; otherwise, a cost of $20 will apply. Dennis Gartman has been directly involved in the capital markets since 1974 following his graduate work at North Carolina State University. As an economist for Cotton, Inc. in the early 1970s, he analyzed cotton supply and demand in the U.S. textile industry. From there he joined NCNB National Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he traded foreign exchange and money market instruments. In the late 1970s, Mr. Gartman became the chief financial futures analyst for A.G. Becker & Company in Chicago, Illinois. He was an independent member of the Chicago Board of Trade until 1984, trading in Treasury and GNMA futures contracts. In 1984, Mr. Gartman relocated to Virginia to run the futures brokerage operation for Sovran Bank. He began producing The Gartman Letter on a full time basis in 1987. Clients of The Gartman Letter include many leading banks, brokerage firms, mutual funds, hedge funds, and commodity trading companies. Mr. Gartman appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg television.
