CFBMC: Farm Council Uses Web Conferencing to Reach
French-Speaking Farmers

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 14, 2005) - The Canadian Farm
Business Management Council in partnership with Agriculture and
Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has organized a series of live farm management
presentations to be conducted in French through its new web video
conferencing tool known as "Agrowebinaire".

Agrowebinaire project spokesman Jacques Paquin says the Council created
its web video conferencing system specifically for the farm sector:

"This technology can allow any farmer with a computer and dial-up web
connection to attend a live online presentation without having to spend
money on travel and accommodations. Farmers can ask the presenter
questions and interact with other farmers in the system, just as though
the session was being held in person."

Since most farmers use a single phone line for voice, fax and the
Internet, Agrowebinaire was created with Voice over IP so that farmers
will be able to hear the presenter on their computer, without the need
for more than one phone connection. Most other web conferencing tools
require the use of two phone lines when using dial-up, one to hear the
audio over the phone and the other to connect to the Internet.

Two French presentations are scheduled for late March, 2005 with
Universite Laval Professor Raymond Levallois, well-known farm management
expert in Quebec and Sylvain Charlebois, Assistant Professor of
Marketing at the Faculty of Administration of the University of Regina
in Saskatchewan.

Sylvain Charlebois - Le marketing direct en agriculture :
l'appropriation d'un plus grand pouvoir (Direct marketing in
Agriculture: Seizing a greater power), March 23, 11:00 - This
presentation will focus on the main concepts and theories supporting the
use of direct marketing, and the practical and ethical implications.
Direct marketing provides farmers with a means of increasing their
capacity through the distribution channel.

Raymond Levallois - Gestion 101 : les grands principes de gestion de
l'entreprise agricole (Management 101: The Fundamental Principles of
Farm Management), March 31, 13:00 - This presentation will address the
fundamental principles of farm management and their application in order
to obtain better economic and financial results. These principles bear
upon six themes: investment management; debt management; production
management; work management; risk management; and different avenues to
consider for resolving financial difficulties.

Farmers can register, free of charge, for one or both of these one-hour
presentations on the Council's web site:
