HUNTSVILLE, AL--(Marketwire - Feb 1, 2013) - CFD Research Corporation (CFDRC) positions Lieutenant General (Retired) Joseph M. Cosumano at the helm to spearhead efforts for building bridges with our government and industrial partners for more effective transition and adoption of its new technologies. CFDRC has a 26-year legacy of successful development and commercialization of state-of-the-art technologies for aerospace, biomedical, energy, materials and cyber security markets. Mr. Cosumano will lead CFDRC as its president effective February 1, 2013.
Dr. Ashok Singhal, co-founder and chairman of CFDRC, said, "General Cosumano is a highly-accomplished and energetic leader, a perfect fit for this extraordinary challenge and for taking CFDRC to the next levels." Over the last eight years, Mr. Cosumano has grown three private companies/divisions significantly. His 35-year career in U.S. Army started with a systems engineering position in Huntsville, and included increasing responsibilities for missile defense programs, Pentagon/OSD Task Force for Army modernization for 21st century, defining Future Combat Systems, and finally as the commanding general of the Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) at Redstone Arsenal.
Mr. Cosumano noted that "with the increasing global competition and shrinking federal budget, small high-tech businesses such as CFDRC have a unique opportunity for partnering with large businesses and government labs, providing much needed impetus for the continued success of our nation. I am happy and proud to be entrusted with this worthy challenge (a new mission), and with the enthusiasm and support of CFDRC leadership and employees."
Since its inception in 1987, CFDRC has culminated world-class talent and technologies (e.g. over 70 percent of employees have advanced degrees and over 55 patents). CFDRC employees are fully committed to build technology-transition bridges for: 1) Technology insertion into national programs; 2) Technology adaptation for commercial applications; and 3) Expert-Support services to DoD, NASA and industry partners.
