CFIA: Allergy Alert-Undeclared Milk in Finesse Assorted Dark Chocolate

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 28, 2007) -

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Finesse Chocolate are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume Finesse assorted dark chocolate described below. The affected product may contain milk protein that is not declared on the label.

Finesse Dark Chocolate was sold in two sizes of brown boxes wrapped with an ingredient and nutritional fact sheet. The affected packages of Finesse Dark Chocolate contain 227 g or 454 g chocolate covered dried fruits and nuts.

This product was sold only in Montreal area, Quebec.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein.

The manufacturer, Finesse Chocolate, Montreal, Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
