CFIA/Allergy Alert: Undeclared Milk in Freddo Brand 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate Squares

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk not to consume Freddo brand 70% Dark Chocolate Squares. The affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Freddo brand 70% cocoa Extra Fine Dark Chocolate Squares, are sold in 140 g packages bearing lot #210256 (along with a time stamp) and UPC 0 65362 12351 4.

This product has been distributed in Quebec.

There has been 1 reported illness associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk.

The manufacturer, Vadeboncoeur Inc, Montreal, QC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
