CFIA: Allergy Alert - Undeclared Milk Protein in Organicfair Brand Dark Chocolate Bars

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 24, 2007) -

OTTAWA, March 23, 2007-The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Organic Fair Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume the Organicfair brand dark chocolate bars described below. The affected products may contain milk protein which is not declared on the label.

All Best Before codes of the following Organicfair brand Dairy Free Gourmet Organic Dark Chocolate bars, 72 g each, are affected by this alert. These products have been distributed in British Columbia.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein.

The manufacturer, Organic Fair Inc., Cobble Hill, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
